Fundraising and donor care with Salesforce – Part 2 of 3
This is part two of our series on using Salesforce CRM for fundraising and donor management. Communication is all about engaging with others and Salesforce offers many tools for you to use.
Cultivate and Communicate
Use email tools available from the AppExchange or Exact Target provided by Salesforce. Whilst you will be able to get a fancy looking email out relatively simply and quickly, it is well worth while spending the time to learn the tool fully. Many offer features such as link tracking and reporting, dynamic content generation, optimised send time, list management (opt-in/out), survey tools, sample, landing pages and more
- Direct Mail
There are a number of options here. The simplest is to run a report of contacts and then export these to excel. This can then be given to your mail house or you can mail merge with MS Word. Other alternatives include Conga Composer for mailouts where data is coming from multiple sources in Salesforce or simply using the mass mail merge in salesforce (up to 100 at a time).
- Social media
Utilise social media to promote your cause and to engage with your donors, supporters, members and volunteers.
As there is a lot of information on social media. Consider the social media monitoring tool Radiant 6 that Salesforce provides. Please see: http://www.salesforcemarketingcloud.com/products/social-media-listening/
- TV, Radio, websites, blogs, banners
These are certainly ways of communicating your message and raising awareness. However, the call to action should be linked to tools that can help manage and track their effectiveness. These tools might be simple web tracking/analytics or more advance tracking such as that provided by the likes of Dashchord. In addition, you can use the social media monitoring tool Radiant 6 as mentioned above in the social media point.
